Dr. Mosluh M. Saeed, Dean of the College of Agriculture, and Mr. Akram Mayee from the General Directorate of the Office of Agriculture in Dohuk went to Aleppo to visit ICARDA (International Centre for Agricultural Research on Dry Areas).
During their meeting with the head of the centre Mr. Adel el-Baltaji it was agreed that ICARDA would open training courses in Aleppo to develop the technical standards of all agricultural specializations in Dohuk. It would assist in raising levels of expertise, offer consultations on improving the planting levels of wheat, barley and various legumes, and would seek out the best techniques for improving yield and quality of crops to suit the climatic conditions of the Dohuk area.
The meeting also decided to open communication channels and hold workshops where experts can advise on the planting of fruit and forestry trees as practiced in Syria, thus benefiting the Kurdistan Region. |
