A delegation from Iraq H E leaders including two HE Ministry Deputy visited UK on February 25th, to attend a Management training course arranged by Nottingham University. The course was mainly designed to show how the management and administration is running in Nottingham University. Trough the course the international relation office members were organizing the program and Prof. Dlawer Alwadin was an important character in this program.
Presidents of University of Salahaldin, Sulaimani, Dohuk, Koya, Head of Technical Foundation Sulamini and Director General for cooperation from MHE, KRG.
In addition to the program in Nottingham an Important Meeting with the minister of HE in UK Mr. Bill Ramall For Kurdistan delegation Was arranged by KRG office London. Long discussions were carried out in the meeting to strengthen the relations between Universities of both sides and to give better Understanding to the situation in Kurdistan Region. The difficult regulations of applying for visa facing the students and faculty were highlighted in the discussions in addition to the need for more support from BC to promote English language learning centers. The minister was happy for the clarifications and suggestions and finally he said he will see what is possible to do. Kurdistan delegation visited also Buckingham University and met the president of the University Prof. Terence Kealey and Dr. Sabah Abbas to strengthen the relationships between both sides and to design some future programs for Kurdistan student for graduate studies. Dr. Asmat M. Khalid visited University of Warwick
Department of Electronic Engineering and He met Dr. Sherzad Khalifa to start cooperation for curricula development, Visit Exchange and graduate study programs.
Meetings with Iraqi Academy and students were done to discuss possible cooperation and their participation in developing HE in Iraq. The Iraqi Education Consultant-Iraq Embassy attends the meeting and exposed the main obstacles he faces in funding his commitments.
Training Programs and visit Exchange are very important for our staff and students and I strongly support expanding such programs at the same time programs should be well designed to fit the needs of the visitors. In addition to all positive things we saw the most interesting thing for me was the role of the student Union Dr. Asmat said.
The visit was ended by meeting and diner Hosted by Iraqi Embassy London.
