| A Representative from the U.S. Embassy in Iraq Discusses New Relations with UoD |

Looking foreword to develop the relationships between the University of Dohuk (UoD) and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, this was made by the American representative, Mr. Jesus Bayle, with visit to the UoD on March 30th, 2008. Mr. Bayle and Dr. Asmat M. Khalid, UoD President, discussed the means by which the US government can support projects for the university, especially those belonging to the Higher Institute of Planning
Dr. Asmat stressed the important role of the embassy in widening the relations between UoD and American universities. This enables students to pursue their graduate studies there. The university also asked the American Embassy to support the English Language Center which deals with teaching students the English language and improving their conversation and accent. In addition, Dr. Asmat talked about the important development that UoD had achieved through opening the Higher Institute for Planning to be the center for research and projects deals with planning. He concentrated on the task that the university does in setting plans and designs for Amedi district and for its important location for investment and growth in the Kurdistan region.
The University of Dohuk has relationships with some American universities such as: Baylor University, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Colombia.
