A master's thesis on Building Engineering and Planning was submitted in the hall of the College of Education on 5th June 2006

The student Shang Asmat Mohammed from the College of Engineering, University of Dohuk defended her master's thesis entitled; "Developing Systems of Construction Planning Management for Building Projects in Iraq".

Discussion of this thesis centred on the necessity of implementing the planned methods for the building projects. The student stated that her conclusion was that there were clear shortcomings to be observed in the application and adaptation of new scientific techniques with regard to the structure, and in identifying the required quality.

Dr. Angham Izz Al-ddin Al-Saffar from the University of Al-Mustansiriya/Baghdad headed the discussion committee which included the following members; Dr. Ali Flaih, dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Dohuk, Dr. Waleed A'wad Marioush from the University of Al-Mustansiriya and Dr. Basil Qasim Mohammed from the Technical University /Baghdad who supervised the research.

Following three and a half hours of discussion, the student was awarded a master's degree with grade Very Good on Civil Engineering/Project Management.
