A master's thesis discusses elections crimes and relevant laws

2006-05-04

A master's thesis on election crimes was submitted from the College of Law in the Azadi Hall of the College of Administration and Economics on April 30, 2006.

The Student Aree Arif Abdul-Aziz defended his thesis entitled; "Election Crimes, a comparative study".
Discussion of the thesis, which lasted for five hours, centred on the enaction of the new Iraqi election system and the gaps existing in it. The new system neglects many related aspects, including the penalization of any contravention of the regulations, in particular, identification of the body charged with executing the penalties is highly important since the Iraqi High Commissariat for Elections is an executive body and thus should not carry out legislative functions also.

The discussion committee included its head, Dr. Rizgar Mohammed Qadir from the University of Salahaddin and the following members; Dr. Nathim Younis the dean of the College of Law in the University of Dohuk, Dr. Nawfal Ali Al-Saffo from the University of Mosul, and the supervisor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Al-Hamdani from the University of Dohuk.
