| Seminar on Baker-Hamilton Report |

The Baker-Hamilton Report on Iraq has created panic and anxiety among the people of Kurdistan, particularly the Kurds. The report is a solution to an American crisis in regard to U.S. strategy in Iraq. There are divisions and conflicting opinions amongst the American people. Indeed, there is a political polarization in the American society on foreign policy, especially about Iraq.
In a seminar presented by College of Law and Politics lecturer, Mr. Farhad Amin Atrushi, rationale behind the Iraq Study Group Report was the main focus along with the correlating crisis that evolved. To know the historical and analytical background of the American foreign policy, one must first know the true motivations behind the report.
The presentation also emphasized the textual aspect of the report and the issue of translation into Arabic and Kurdish. There are mistakes in the translations done by some Kurdish or Arabic newspapers and websites. Weather intentionally or not, it has lead to some misunderstandings by politicians and academicians.
In short, Mr. Farhad stated that the report has satisfied American needs more than any one else. The report attempted to satisfy all parties (the parties inside Iraq, and the neighboring countries). The Kurds believe they are going to pay more than any one else if the new American policy applies the report recommendations.
