Dr. Asmat M. Khalid received Gene Bolles, Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Colorado USA, who headed a delegation from Denver University, visiting the University of Dohuk.



Dr. Abdullah Sa'eed, general director of the Directorate of Health in Dohuk, and Dr. Farhad Rashid, dean of the College of Medicine were present at a meeting at which the possibilities of establishing relations between the two universities on different aspects were discussed.



The delegation, which is currently visiting the Kurdistan Region, also looked at the obstacles faced by the University of Dohuk with regard to sending students to study abroad according to agreements made with US universities, particularly with regard to the granting of visas and tuition and travel expenses.



Dr. Asmat, while briefly summarizing the steps in the development of the University of Dohuk, stated that even during the period of Saddam's rule it was one of the first institutions to consider it important to establish agreements with US universities such as Columbia, Baylor and other US educational foundations.



The delegation later paid a visit to the College of Medicine to look at the courses on offer and the possibility of building relationships between the two sides with regard to different aspects of medical studies.
