2007-01-23 |
After a visit by the delegation from the University of Hawai'i last May, representatives have returned to Dohuk to complete the formation of a joint center. A five year agreement was reached between both universities to open the American Development Center.
Dr. Dawood Atrushi, Vice-President of International Affairs, told Peyanmer News that the center will carry out scientific and humanities research as well as studies of interest to both universities. It will also organize joint cultural and scientific programs specifically those aimed at teaching English. Another task of the center is to prepare research and studies related to the economy in order to encourage American capitalists to invest in the Kurdistan Region.
The American Development Center will consist of three staff members from the University of Hawai'i and staff from the UoD. For the first year the University of Hawai'i will cover many of the expenses of the center.
