The rising rate of student applications to Kurdish universities has the Kurdistan Regional Government seeking new university admission measures. This dilemma brought Mrs. Jowan Jalal, Administrator for Central Admissions in the Kurdistan Region to visit with the universities and institutes. In her recent visit to the University of Dohuk (UoD), Mrs. Jowan met with Kurdish university registrars, technical institution board members, and President Asmat. They discussed the importance of widening the current admissions plan or changing it to match the increasing number of potential students.
Mr. Ezat Fendy, UoD registrar, sees the advantage in the proposed opening of new departments for both colleges and institutes. He also agrees with the consensus of the meeting that the Minster's Council should take the necessary steps to accept the increased number of students. This is especially important as the universities themselves do not have the authority to offer studies, provide necessities, or widen the admission policy without ministry direction.
