British General Consul in Kurdistan member, Alison Kemp and her delegation visited the University of Dohuk (UoD) to discuss establishing mutual relationships. Dr. Asmat M. Khalid the UoD President gave a briefing about the history, development and contribution of UoD in the City of Dohuk and the Kurdistan Region. Dr. Asmat expressed the importance of gaining assistance in teaching English at the university, and the urgent need to arrange special courses for English teachers. Emphasis was placed on the issue of allocating seats for students to study at British universities and the problem of getting visas for the students as well as the teaching staff who plan to participate in the training courses, scientific research, or conferences held in Britain.
Dr. Asmat requested a strong presence of the British Council cultural activities in Kurdistan in view of the safety, stability, and the needs of the region for such activities. Kemp assured that the points risen in the discussion will be directed to the responsible parties to be studied and resolved.
