| Universities of Kurdistan Region discuss the expansion of cooperation with the British Oxford and Exeter Universities |

A delegation from Kurdistan Region headed by Dr. Khalid Salih the chancellor of Kuridstan Region Government and included the president of Dohuk University the presidents of Salahaddin, Koya Univeristies, the Head of the Technical Foundation, the General Director of Education Directorate in Dohuk and representatives from the Ministry of Education in the Region visited England on April 1, 2006
President of University of Dohuk Dr. Asmat M. Khalid stated that the delegation had a detailed discussion with the both British Universities of Oxford and Exeter on the matters of extending the scientific and cultural relationships as well as the postgraduate programme for the prospected future expansion.
Dr. Asmat pointed that increasing the school seats of the high studies for the Kuridsh graduates, in the British Universities was one of the major themes focused on during the visit in addition to the Teacher Training programme, the issues of purchasing the technical equipments and laboratory devices. The discussion went further to the intensive concentration on the English Language Teaching in all educational and scientific institutions in the region.
On the other hand, Dr. Asmat highly valued some visits made by the delegation to several academic institutes, publishing houses where discussions were hold on the cooperation techniques and the support might be offered by the British side to the institutions for the development of the Educational systems in Kurdistan Region.
This superior visit is regarded as the first of its kind and importance is due to the great coordinative efforts preceded by the Representative of Kurdistan Region in England, Ms. Bain Sami Abdurrahman through KDC (Kurdistan Development Cooperation) with the cooperation and support from UKTI (United Kingdom Training & Investment). |
